Dinamic, Zigurat, Topo Soft and Opera Soft were the four largest companies that had a presence during the Golden Age of Spanish software. But they were not the only ones, since many others joined the party, with greater or lesser success, to create a web of video games that trapped hundreds of thousands of children who grew up during the eighties with those imaginary worlds.
In this book, a continuation of the acclaimed A Better Past: The Golden Age of Spanish Software , Atila Merino has interviewed, over the years, more than twenty developers, graphic artists, musicians, illustrators and directors of companies such as Dinamic, Topo Soft, Opera Soft, DRO Soft, Aventuras AD, Iber Soft or New Frontier. Industry heavyweights such as Servando Carballar, Andrés Samudio, Gonzo Suárez, Ángel Luis González or the Abril brothers (Carlos and Nacho), they tell us in first person what happened in that wonderful time thanks to the memories, both positive and negative, that they still have.
Far from limiting themselves to responding, the interviewees themselves have provided all kinds of material, sometimes unpublished, to illustrate the192224 pages in full color of which this work is composed. To this we must add the great digitization and restoration work that all kinds of photographs, covers, sketches and advertisements have gone through, returning them to all their original splendor.
As in the previous book, the cover art is the work of Ángel Luis Sánchez, cover artist at Zigurat and author of covers as emblematic as those of El Poder Darko, Jungle Warrior or Senda Salvaje .
In charge of the prologue is the veteran video game analyst José Luis Sanz « JL Skywalker », known for his writings in various print media in the early 90s.
