Atila Merino Redondo, Ciruelo Cabral (Foreword), Angel Luis Sánchez (Cover Art)
Sadly, the legendary illustrator Juan Giménez left us during the year 2020. This internationally famous Argentine delighted us with several covers, already mythical, during the Golden Age of Spanish software. Games like Sol Negro, Mutan Zone, Livingstone Guess II, Guillermo Tell, Ke Rulen los Petas, Defcom 1, Toi Acid Game, Casanova, Golden Basket and Soviet , all for Opera Soft and Iber Soft, had the honor of having his art. In 2016 he made what would be his last cover for a video game: Space Moves , for Amstrad CPC.
But his facet as a video game cover artist was just one more, since he also stood out in other fields such as animation, participating in 1980 in the film Heavy Metal , or comics, cradling the essential Black Star (1979), Question of time (1982), Trash (1988), Ace of Pique (1988), The Fourth Power (1989), City (1991), The Metabaron caste (1992), Leo Roa (2005) or I, Dragon (2011), among many others .
This art book is a heartfelt tribute to the master. In it, dozens of artists have wanted to dedicate a beautiful farewell to him, making original illustrations that range from versions of his covers, characters from his comics, and even drawing Juan himself immersed in his own works.
In the coordination are Atila Merino ( A Better Past The Golden Age of Spanish Software and Memories of the Spanish Video Game ) and Ángel Luis Sánchez , (author of covers of games such as El Poder Dark , Jungle Warrior or Senda Salvaje , and those of several of our books) who is also responsible for the cover art.
The moving prologue was made by the Argentine artist Ciruelo Cabral , a friend of Giménez , who also contributed to this tribute with a magnificent illustration.
An essential book for followers of Giménez 's career and for anyone who lived through the Golden Age of Spanish software.
