Olivier Pauwels
With the advent of arcade games, the best Pop Culture artists from Japan and elsewhere were asked to put their talent to use in advertisements for video games destined to become global successes.
This book addresses the most prolific period, between 1980 and 1990. While some illustrators were entitled to the light, like Keita Amemiya, other equally talented artists often worked in the shadows, to illustrate on the pixelated universe of arcade heroes, from the least known to the most famous. And with the arrival of color, advertisements improved in quality over the years.
Through these graphic testimonies, largely anonymous, many artists with different styles and techniques have contributed to creating "ART CADE", an art now in its own right. This book pays tribute to them.
