Markus Breuer
Electronic sport, or esport for short, plays an important role in the lives of its mostly young athletes today. Despite this, his public perception is low to this day. The few media reports are often critical and often use outdated clichés.
This book aims to contribute to stimulating and objectifying public discussion. To do this, it deliberately looks at the phenomenon of e-sports from different perspectives. Experts from a wide variety of areas of business and science have their say, each bringing their own approach to the discussion.
The contributions address the following questions, among others: Which transfer effects of digital games can be expected from a physiological perspective? Do professional esports players react faster than casual gamers? What pedagogical opportunities are there in the context of e-sports? To what extent does professional e-sport currently resemble conventional sport, for example in terms of organization? How can electronic sports be used in corporate communications? And what role does he play for a global publisher?
The answers reflect the current status of the discussion and provide new food for thought for further dealing with the phenomenon of e-sports.
