After novels, comics and films, digital games have also developed into a medium in recent decades that popularizes historical material for a broad audience. In virtual game worlds, people of all ages can find images of history, appropriate them or compare them with existing ideas. It doesn't matter whether the manufacturers of these games have the intention to convey them or whether the content offered is suitable for this.


Like other media, digital games have an impact on historical images and thus potentially on historical learning outside of educational contexts. Angela Schwarz deals with this phenomenon and shows how the popular medium of the digital game uses and presents history.
