Harald Horchler
An entertaining foray into the world of game designers in the 1980s. You'll not only learn a lot about the working methods of those involved, but also some anecdotes. A special treat are the reports on the development of the then miracle machines Atari ST and Commodore Amiga.
Happy Computer was among the best-known computer magazine of the 1980s in Germany. The names of most of the editors at the time are also unforgettable: Anatol Locker, Boris Schneider and above all Heinrich Lenhardt, who were not only competent but also wrote in an entertaining way. In addition to game tests and trade fair reports, they also conducted a series of interviews with people who were very well known at the time: game company owners, programmers, game developers, graphic designers and composers. All were asked about their visions, their assessment of computer and computer game development and their future projects.
What did the developers think of their work back then? How do you rate the computer games market? How do you think it would develop - and how would computer technology develop? And last but not least: How did you work back then? All of these questions are answered here, and we don't skimp on anecdotes either.
