The English verb "resume" means to continue and refers to a process or action that was previously interrupted. RESUME is also a programming command. It appears, for example, in version 7.0 of Commodore BASIC for the C128. There it takes on an additional meaning: the command tells the computer that and, if necessary, at what point it should continue a program that was interrupted by an error in its execution.
The following book intends to transfer this additional meaning to human action and to point out to the reader (with a tongue in cheek) that it could have been a mistake to have interrupted your study of old computers, and that this interruption - maybe even with the help of this bookl - can lead to a new occupation...once you have found a connection to the topic again.
