When you play with the computer, time is at stake: you have to give it time and you get time from it; one inserts one's processes into the time regime of one's own thinking and one's own body and at the same time is integrated by the computer (game) into its temporal regime. In this way one plays a game in which speed, acceleration, temporality, timeliness, simultaneity, earlier or earlier and historicity can or even have to play a part.

The contributions in this volume are dedicated to these interdependencies of time and computer games in three sections: on the level of cybernetic human-machine interconnections, on the level of time motifs in discourses, aesthetics and narratives of games, and on the level of social, cultural and historical temporalities of the game and play.
